Issue 38 - Official Preview!

We invite you to curl up and leaf through Issue 38's designs! Grounded yet reaching for the sky, the knit and crochet patterns within our Autumn 2021 collection are inspired by roots, branches, and everything between! You can look forward to luscious cable patterns which mimic labyrinths of roots and statuesque boughs, clever colourwork and textures designed to imitate oft-overlooked plantlife, and patterns which reference the enchanted forests of fairy tales. Without further ado, let's dig in...

Burrow down into Issue 38 and you'll discover two articles, a tutorial, and a recipe in addition to nine knit and crochet patterns! Dawn Henderson invites us to introduce magick into our handicrafts by sharing her experiences of Hoodoo (or African American rootwork). Drawing on her expertise in microplastics, Tereza Pavlíková raises important questions about the textile industry and pollution, and Caitlin Ffrench demonstrates how you can make charcoal and ink from dried plant material! Issue 38’s knit and crochet garments will keep you toasty from the outside, but Fi Churchman’s ginger pudding recipe will warm you from within!

You can pre-order Issue 38 here, or subscribe to a whole year of Pom Pom here! We expect all* pre-ordered and subscriber copies to arrive with you by mid-August - perfect timing for planning Autumn crafts! All print copies of Pom Pom come with a digital download code so you'll be able to access your PDF edition from 16th August 2021. On the same day, the digital-only edition will be available and you'll also be able to purchase Issue 38 from all lovely LYSs (our excellent stockists)!

If you wish to view Issue 38's designs on Ravelry, you can do so here

We had the pleasure of working with a wonderful team for Issue 38! With thanks to PPQ38's photographer, Salsabil Morrison, and models, Araba Ackon and Nick Mitchell! The clothing styled with the knit and crochet garments was generously loaned to us by Phaedra Clothing and all the photos were shot at Kewsick Mill

We hope that Autumn brings you flurries of quiet and content crafting moments.

Love, Pom Pom xx
