Episode 13 - With Stephen West + Travelling Stitches

Hello Pomcast pals!

We hope you are as geared up for summer knitting as we are! This month we bring you an interview with Stephen West (!!!) as well as a distinctly travel related vibe, alongside all our usual knit chat. You can listen to it here:

Make sure to download the Soundcloud app if you want to listen on a mobile device, or if you subscribe to Pomcast on iTunes it should appear on your device now! Hooray! And if you don't subscribe? Why not?!?!

Make sure to read to the end for more info on the generous giveaways provided by Mr Westknits himself!

But without further ado, here are our show notes so that you can supplement your aural pleasure with visual pleasure. Looking at knits never gets old!

News

Pom Pom went to I Knit Fandango, which was very lovely indeed.

Blacker yarns were just one of the lovely knit folk we encountered. Here is their Swan range, all satisfyingly in colour order.

We also plan to be showing of our samples and hanging out at Brooklyn General in the first week of June. Date TBC, but watch this space! And of course we just released our new Summer issue... but you already knew that!

Tell + Tell

Lydia finished her Michelada, in yellow Cascade Heritage Sock. And very pleased she is too!

Also she is working on Greco, and the ever exciting Delita shawl, now with added Unicorn Tail magic!

Sophie is working on Fika socks, and is now a fee paying member of the #fikafancclub

Review

This podcast we were so excited to take a look at the new book from Hannah Fettig of Knitbot fame. It's called Home & Away: Knits for Everyday Adventures, and features beautiful simple designs which you can knit either top down or bottom up! Bonus! It was conceived as an extension of the awesome knit.fm podcast, well worth a listen! And of course check out the book. Our faves were Georgetown and Lesley.

Interview

Westknits! In the house! Stephen West talks about his knitting tips, his love of colour, and is charming and fabulous as always. The yarn he chose for his desert island? Hedgehog Fibres Sock. Fitting indeed! Find him all over the internet but especially on Instagram. He also has a very exciting spring scarf KAL at the moment! Get those needles and bright colours out and about!

Lydia & Sophie of the Pomcast with this month's guest, Stephen West!

Ravelry Realness

Fundamental! We discussed top travel knits.

Travelling Woman || Traveller Tunic || Piper's Journey || Rikke Hat

And the incredibly exciting Travel Fox! Not to mention Azulejo and Pomelo (shown below), which could be knit on the go, or could be used as useful bags while travelling! You can't say we don't give you options!

Top 3

... travel essentials. Listen to find out what we chose, and to get some sage advice from Sophie, camper and organiser extraordinaire.

Thanks for reading! And thanks as always to Eli who makes us sound less silly, and wrote all the original music for this (and every) pomcast.
