Episode 21 - With Craftivist Sarah Corrbett

Happy New Year Pomcats!

We hope you all had restful holidays, and started the new year with renewed crafting vigour. To add to the excitement of 2016 we have a new episode of the Pomcast for you - Episode 21! (Pomcast is now legally able to drink in America... watch out!).  We have all our usual knits and giggles, as well as an interview with the inspiring Sarah Corbett, founder of the Craftivist Collective. Listen away here:

Make sure to download the Soundcloud app if you want to listen on a mobile device, or if you subscribe to Pomcast on iTunes it should appear on your device now! And while you’re having a listen, why not rate us or even leave a little review – thanks!

We also have some great giveaways for you! A pair of Unravel tickets, as well as a lovely My Footprint Kit from the Craftivist Collective. To be in with a chance of winning just comment on this post by Sunday 7th February telling us which of the Unravel exhibitors you are most excited to see at the show. Extra points if you tweet, share on Facebook or Instragram! Just let us know that you did in a separate comment.

And thanks of course to our brilliant sponsors, unravel! We can't wait for the show!

Tell + Tell

Lydia has been working on Turnberry in an almost indescribable shade of O-wool O-wash Fingering (which they call Pearly Mussel). Lydia is also very happy with her Caswell Bay Mitts, in super soft cashmere dyed by Elizabeth Beverley. Plans to make more of these mitts are already in place.

Sophie is flattering Lydia by copying (ahem) her Garland, but in a much more mature shade of the Shibui Silk Cloud.

News

Pom Pom will be at unravel in February! Hooray! And not only will we have a stand where you can look at samples, and look at / talk to us, Sophie + Lydia will be hosting a Pomcast Q&A with the wonderful Veera Valimaki. You may have heard by now that we at Pom Pom Press are publishing Interpretations Volumes 1, 2 and 3 in print, and so Veera will also be able to sign copies, and we will have samples of the knits for you to see as well!

And of course our latest issue - Spring 2016 - is due out very soon. It's going to be undyed glorious yarny goodness with some serious geometry thrown in. Because what is an issue of Pom Pom without some triangles?

Reviews

This episode we reviewed SuperTwist DK from Nurturing Fibres, a lovely smooth ecologically sourced merino.

We think this would be wonderful for baby knits, and would make a darned good Ketch Harbour shawl.

Interview

I'm a #popupcraftivist

In the spirit of the new year, for this first episode of 2016 we talked to Sarah Corbett, founder of the Craftivist Collective. You might remember we had a feature on Sarah in our Autumn 2014 issue, and we are so glad we caught up with her again. She talked to us about activism, craftivism, collaboration and kindness. Sarah left us feeling inspired, and we are sure you will feel the same way.

Knitters You Should Know About

In this new segment EZ, also known as Elizabeth Zimmermann, or 'the opinionated knitter' is our knitter to discuss for this episode.

Top 3...

Comfort Foods! We think around 75% of our top 3s are food related. If you have other food topics you would like us to discuss tell us on our Ravelry thread! Non-food related topics also welcome! Want to know what our favourite comfort foods are? You're gonna have to listen!

That's all from us. We'll be back next month with more knit chat. Until then...

Pom on! x
