Tip Top Top Tips

Thanks to everyone who got involved with last episode's top tip. Turns out there are many strategies for rekindling lost motivation. We love it when you guys get involved in our discussions on the ravelry group, so keep it up!

Our top tip for this episode was a little less existential, Sophie has a particular way of remembering hoot do M1R (make 1 right) versus M1L (make 1 left). Do any of you have little tricks for this?

Tell + Tell

Lydia is making good progress on her right angle, and also make a new (green) Take Heart hat. There are also another pair of Caswell Bay mitts in the works, in the same lovely Elizabeth Beverley as the previous pair... but this time she's keeping them! Here's to selfish knitting!

Lydia's Take Heart!

Sophie is working on her Garland, and has started a Terra shawl in Midwinter Yarns Pirkkalanka.

News

On the podcast we mentioned that we were just about to shoot our upcoming summer issue, which we did in Austin at the beautiful Red Bud Isle. Here is a sneaky peak preview of what you can expect....

Of course we were at Edinburgh Yarn Festival, so thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello! And thanks to our listener who provided mini eggs, always much appreciated. We also had the lovely Nappy Knitter trying on our samples, here she is in some faves!

You may also know that we recently released our first tutorial videos, a collaboration with our very own Sophie, which feature not only her more familiar vocal talents, but her hands too!

Reviews

We took a look at Crochet Yeah! A pint sized crochet pattern book using Rachel Coopey's Socks Yeah! yarn with designs by Joanne Scrace and Kat Goldin.

Sophie's fave were the Evesham socks by Joanne Scrace and Lydia's were the Tenbury hat + mitten by Kat Goldin.

Interview

For this episode Sophie spoke to Cecelia Campochiaro of Sequence knitting fame at Edinburgh Yarn Fest. Listen to hear all about the concept behind her book, and the way her programmer's mind approaches knitting. Thanks again to the organisers of EYF and the Blacker Podcast Lounge for allowing us to record at the festival!

Knitters You Should Know About (KYSKA)

Kaffe Fasset (rhymes with safe asset) is a very colourful and influential American knit designer, painter, and ceramicist (amongst other things!). Sophie tells Lydia all about why he is a KYSKA. You can find out more in many places, but we recommend the book Dreaming in Colour, which is not only inspirational, but has many must see pictures of people posing in knits. We didn't dub him the Stephen West of his day for nothing!

Top 3...

Cheeses! This was a hard one, but you can listen to find out what we chose. Please keep suggesting top 3 topics, we aim to please!

and that's all folks! Thanks for reading (and listening we hope!)
