Episode 25 - Mini EYF Interviews

Hello podcast fans!

We have good news, the latest episode of Pomcast, episode 25, is all ready for your ears. Just in time for the long weekend!

Make sure to download the Soundcloud app if you want to listen on a mobile device, or if you subscribe to Pomcast on iTunes it should appear on your device now! And while you’re having a listen, why not rate us or even leave a little review – thanks!

Thanks of course to our sponsor Feel Good Yarn co. who distribute SilverSpun, which contains actual silver! Silver has therapeutic, thermal and conductive qualities, which means that SilverSpun yarn does too. We can't wait to try out this magical yarn next episode when we will have a review for you!

As an extra early summer treat we have a skein of the gorgeous Viola Merino Lace to give away. As a bonus it's in the colour lettuce, which you may recognise as the yarn used for Altair. One skein is the exact amount it takes to crochet yourself this perfect summery shawl. Leave a comment below letting us know by Sunday 5th June. Extra points if you tweet, share on Facebook or Instagram! Just let us know that you did in a separate comment.

On a 'Knit' to Know Basis

Where we share our new fave knitting related and non knitting related things. This episode was pretty podcast heavy, so for those of you who don't have enough podcasts to listen to yet here are the ones we talked about:

Tell + Tell

Lydia has been working on an Equilibrium cardi, in Blacker's Tamar, which is very nearly finished. The unusual construction has made this project super interesting, one of the many fun things about knitting - the learning never stops!

Sophie has finished her Terra shawl, and is working on super colourful socks, as part of her 'summer of socks' (or SOS as it's also known).

News

Of course our main news is the arrival of Issue 17! Landing on doormats far and wide, or at an LYS near you, our latest issue is out and about. It's now also available digitally, so you can enjoy it in whichever format suits you best. Hooray!

Sophie's faves are Vaara (above), and Thornett, but Lydia has pipped her to the post and is a few inches into the yoke of her very own Vaara in a very exciting colour from Old Maiden Aunt, called 'To the Black'.

Tip Top Top Tip

Trouble with your colourwork? Norwegian thimble / stranding guide could be the answer! This top tip came from our Ravelry thread, come and join us!

Review

Our yarn for review this episode is Blacker's Tamar. Listen to find out why we are big fans of this lovely yarn.

Interviews

This episode we have a throwback to Edinburgh Yarn Festival in the form of a election of mini interviews Sophie did during the event in March. You'll hear from John Arbon, Julia Billings (of Woollenflower), Sonja Bargielowska (of Blacker Yarns) and Dianna Walla. Enjoy!

KYSKA

This episode our knitter you should know about is Norwegian textile artist Annemor Sundbø. You might remember that we did a Q&A with her at Unravel 2015. She was the owner of Norway's last shoddy mill, and through exploring the old knits and fabrics that came through the mill she was able to trace trends in knitting and darning, and document motifs and other cultural factors. Definitely a knitter you should know about!

Top 3...

Thanks so much for reading, and listening! We'll be back next month!
