Episode 48 – The London Loom

Hey Pomcasts, Happy 2018! It's good to get back in the podcast groove and bring you a new episode of more knitting chat and gossip than you can shake a skein at. We're hanging out with the charming and creative Francesca Kletz and Brooke Dennis who run The London Loom in this here London town. We'll be having a gander at their new book, swatching with some tasty The Wool Kitchen yarn, bringing you all the news of your favourite knitting mag and all the while providing your ears all the puns and cheering chatter that your day needs.

Make sure to download the Soundcloud app if you want to listen on a mobile device, or if you subscribe to Pomcast on iTunes it should appear on your device now! All episodes of Pomcast are also now available on Stitcher too. And while you’re having a listen, why not rate us or even leave a little review – thanks!

Thanks to The Wool Kitchen for sponsoring this episode, we had a play with some of their BFL DK, whoo! Check our our review for how you could win some of this yarn!

News

It's the season for us to head to knitting shows, so mark your diaries for Unravel 16th - 18th February and Edinburgh Yarn Festival 15th - 17th March. Our stand will be stocked high with our new upcoming Spring Issue 24 (so exciting!), and in Edinburgh you'll be able to get your hands on a copy of the new Interpretations Volume 5 (ooh we're all excited again!)

Tell + Tell

As so often is the case after our charming hosts have been on their Christmas hols, there have been a few FOs! Sophie finished her Garland and it's looking mohair-tastic, Lydia has a squishy cowl Overcheck, which looks like a delicious battenberg cake.

Reviews

We have been lucky enough to get a sneak peek of The London Loom's new book Weave This! The book features a host of unbe-weave-able projects to kick start your next loom based crafting addiction. You’ll learn how to make eclectic tapestries, lampshades, bags, frames, rugs, charms and some envy-inducing tassel earrings.

Just like the gals themselves, the book is fun, easy going and full of puns. Pre-order is available from their website and you also have the option to pick up from their book launch on the 22nd February!

What a treat to have a second review in the form of The Wool Kitchen DK. This shade goes by the name 'The Dark Side of Ziggy' and the kaleidoscopic pops of colour of this skein have us feeling very happy indeed. We love the plumpness of the yarn, 100% BFL, and could see it being used for fun projects like the Zazie Cowl.

INTERVIEW

We learn more about how The London Loom came to be. This chat starts with a little weaving lesson that the Pom Pom UK had one morning - check out when we made!
