Episode 52 - Amy Small of Knit Collage

Hi Pomcats! The sun is shining and we're more relaxed than a loose gauge linen hand knit. Summer is a great time to enjoy the outside with your latest WIP in tow, so why not pop this episode of Pomcast on to accompany you. We've got a chat with Amy Small of Knit Collage, notes on sunny London, and news of our Autumn and Winter knits - gotta be ready for when the weather changes. Pom on!

News

This month saw us exhibiting at The National Needle Arts Association (TNNA) trade show in Cleveland, Ohio.  It's always a joy to see so many of our lovely stockists (old and new), plus the yarn companies and designers we have the privilege of working with.

We've also been shooting our new exciting Autumn Issue 26. These designs are all inspired by the moon, and it's a magical collection of knits! You'll have to wait until August for the full reveal, but for now here's a little taster...

Tell + Tell

Finished objects ahoy as Sophie has finished her Tarmac (perfect for the summery weather) and Lydia has finished her Soirée (a little less weather appropriate, but just as lovely).

Our multi-craftual leanings mean that there has also been sewing, Lydia has finished a Merchant and Mills Tee Shirt. We also mentioned the projects that the rest of the Pom Pom team have finished too, Amy's Anni tee and Meghan's Riley (see pic of the gals with Amy Small later in the post for a peek).

Review

Thanks to our sponsors Scheepjes, we had a play with their gorgeous Linen Soft. Above is a swatch for Anni, but this yarn originally featured in Issue 25 with Leiden. With a robust mix of linen, cotton and a touch of acrylic, Linen Soft blocks beautifully and holds it shape - we think it's a winner for summer tops!

Interview

While at TNNA Sophie and Meghan got cozy with Amy Small of Knit Collage. We've been fans of Amy's textured and eclectic yarns for a long time, so it was a treat to find out how she turned her passion for spinning into a fully fledged business, with a lot of heart and happiness mixed in too!

Above is Amy's Penguono that she references in the interview, which is just a taster of what you can make with Knit Collage. Find out more about Amy and her yarns here.

The wool is out there and we want to believe! We delve a little deeper with the phrase 'hanging by a thread'. Remember you can suggest our chat topics and hang out with us on the Pom Pom Ravelry forum.

TOP THREE

We're feeling all cultured as we list our top three exhibitions that we've visited EVER!

And what would a podcast be without a little giveaway!? We've got one of our enamel badges up for grabs, in the new stunning midnight blue colourway. To enter, we want to know what exhibition has inspired you, so pop your answer in a comment below. Competition closes on midnight Sunday 8th July - good luck!

We’ll see you next month Pomcats! Happy knitting!
