News + Reviews
Pom Pom was at Renegade Craft Fair London, which was super fun. We made lots of pom pom baubles, and got to have a quick gander at all sorts of wonderful hand made goodies.
Sophie attended Tom of Holland's darning class - you should definitely check out his blog here, for visible mending and a list of upcoming workshops. We also talked about the new Winter 2014 issue of Pom Pom, full of pub themed goodness, and beautiful patterns.
Our book review is Cirilia Rose's ode to knitwear Magpies, Homebodies and Nomads: A Modern Knitter's Guide to Exploring and Discovering Style which is an excellent read, and provides a real insight into Cirilia's creative process. Highly recommended!
And for our yarn review enter Blacker Gotland DK, a lovely woolly gift of a yarn. In neutral greys it is a real earthy yarn for those of you who like to feel the providence in the things you make.
Blacker focus on producing sustainable and very British yarns, so definitely check them out! We also used one of their yarns for the Sorrel hat in our latest issue.
Gift Knit Ideas
We have some tips for quick Christmas knits! Listen for more, but here were our picks:
Skipworth Mitts || Take Heart Hat || Housewarming dishcloths || Seventeen Seeds and Rye
Interview
Listen to hear what Cirilia has to say on topics such as how she came to be part of the knitting world, and what her spirit animal is. Hard hitting journalism! This is one of our favourites from the book; the Isla cardigan with the Marion collar.
Colour of the Cast
Is Pink! There was a little controversy about the pinks that Lydia chose, they were American Beauty from Malabrigo, and Skye Gabbro by Shilasdair. Sophie chose 'knock your socks off'' pinks, Coquette and Pop Rocks from MadelineTosh and Strawberry Fields from Malabrigo.
Top 3...
Christmassy things which are acceptable in November... a slightly abstract theme, but important of course! Here is an extra pom pom related acceptable christmas thing... pom poms + baubles = pom pom bauble garland!!!
We hope you have enjoyed Pomcast 7, as ever thank you to Eli Block, you can find more of his music here . And of course don't forget to check out Blacker who sponsored this podcast
