Long-Tail Cast-On
Step 1: Make a slip knot leaving a generous tail and place on needle. Your tail will need to be at least 3 times the length of the project's finished measurement to make the required number of stitches.
Step 2: Arrange yarn on left hand, with the long tail over thumb and the working yarn threaded behind index finger.
Step 3: Bend fingers to trap the long tail and working yarn and hold secure.
Step 4: Scoop needle from left to right to pick up tail yarn on left side of thumb.
Step 5: Lean needle to pick up working yarn looped over index finger.
Step 6: Draw working yarn through to create stitch on needle.
Step 7: Make sure your new stitch is snug on the needle by gently pulling yarn tail with thumb in the direction shown. Make sure not to pull too hard, you don't want your stitches to be too tight.
Step 8: Ensure tail yarn and working yarn are arranged as detailed in Step 2 and repeat Steps 3 -7 to cast on required number of stitches.
