Guest Editor: Candice English of The Farmer's Daughter Fibres
Issue 46: Autumn 2023
We couldn’t be more excited to announce Candice English as Guest Editor of our Autumn 2023 issue! Candice is the owner, founder, and creative director at The Farmer's Daughter Fibers. She uses her Blackfeet heritage and roots in the American West as inspiration for her nostalgic colorways. Along with FDF, Candice also runs an LYS in Montana as well as Sisters United, an organisation that centres around healing Indigenous women, children, and families.
We are now accepting submissions for writing and knitwear designs for this issue! Here’s Candice on her vision for Pom Pom Autumn 2023:
"We are so excited to guest edit Issue 46 for Autumn 2023 of Pom Pom. Our vision for this issue focuses on the juxtaposition of the hard and soft elements inherent in Western living. We take inspiration from ancestors who continue to protect us all while we carry and work to heal the trauma passed down from them. We imagine the textures of dry, dusty dirt woven with the softness of wool sweaters worn to the barn or to town. We celebrate the survival of wild animals in the harshest conditions, whose spirit and heart connects them to all living things. The yarns and colours we envision are both soft, light, and airy, and rustic, earthy, and dense. Either alone or a combination of both. We encourage Indigenous designers to apply, but it is not a requirement."
Please submit your ideas by 6th October, midnight BST, via the form below. If your design has been selected, you will be notified in November. Finished patterns, samples, and articles will then be due February 2023 for publication in August 2023.

Compensation is offered on a scale of difficulty of the pattern / length of article, etc. We provide yarn support. You can also rest assured your pattern will be presented in the best light possible, with professional tech editing, beautiful photography, and brilliant graphic design.
