Knit scarf PDF pattern by Meghan Fernandes

Traditional tartans and plaids lend their basic structure to this feathery wrap, which incorporates negative space where an additional flat colour would normally sit. The main yarn is a fluffy baby Suri alpaca blend, while the slipped stitches use a slippery smooth merino DK for high-impact contrast in texture, as well as colour. Never one for fuss, Meghan encourages you to carry the non-working yarn up the sides of the wrap, twisting with the working yarn as needed, to avoid cutting the yarn and weaving in lots of ends.

Chapman has an experimental soul. Meghan conceived it as an exploration of colour, texture, and negative space, and hopes you’ll take it even further. Virtually any combination of weights, textures, and colours could work; start with those special skeins you love but have never matched to the perfect pattern!
