Here at Pom Pom we are beyond excited to reveal our newest incarnation - the Pom Pom Press! Our love of print now extends beyond the realm of magazines and our very first book is Take Heart: A Transatlantic Knitting Journey by Fiona Alice.
You may recognise Fiona's name from the gorgeous patterns she has designed for Pom Pom Quarterly in the past, and we are thrilled to be able to expand upon her distinctive design aesthetic, beautiful illustration style, and thoughtful writing.
Take Heart traces a path across the Atlantic from Fiona's hometown in Nova Scotia, to where she now resides in London. The book was photographed by longtime Pom Pom collaborator Juju Vail, with the stunning Welsh seaside as the backdrop.
Featuring 11 accessory patterns using yarns from locally owned British & Canadian companies including SweetGeorgia // Handmaiden Fine Yarn // John Arbon Textiles // Illimani // The Uncommon Thread // Kettle Yarn Co // Toft Alpaca // The Border Mill.
Each pattern is lovingly illustrated by Fiona, along with heartfelt writing detailing her inspiration behind each one. We believe that handmade objects are imbued with the stories of those who make them, and nowhere is that more evident than here.
